Connecting Rods Hot Rods connecting rods are double-forged to improve grain-flow and maintain dimensional consistency. Additionally, they are shot peened to eliminate surface stress risers and to smoothly blend together the radiuses of the rod forging. Unlike hand ground or polished rods, shot peened rods have a more consistent dimensioning and surface finish for maximum strength under the most demanding loads.
